Emma Mott Named 2020 DI Cross Country Ray Bullock Award Recipient 11/14/2020 1:05:57 PM Greenville, SC: The NCCAA is pleased to announce Emma Mott of Bethel University as the 2020 Bullock Award Recipient for Division I Women’s Cross Country. Described by her coaches as committed and coachable, Emma Mott has earned herself an impressive resume during her three years running with the Pilots. With a notable 5k time of 17:52 she currently holds the Bethel University program record. In 2018 she won the individual title at the NCCAA DI Women’s Cross Country National Championship with a time of 18:32 and defended her title the following year with a time of 18:23 earning her NCCAA All-American honors both years. She will look to defend her title once again at the 2020 NCCAA National Championship in Joplin, Missouri. At the 2019 NAIA National Championship, she finished 11th with a time of 18:21 to earn NAIA All-American honors. Mott is also a member of the track and field team at Bethel University and has earned numerous honors on the track. Mott is pursuing a Master of Business Administration and boasts a 4.0 GPA. She is a two-time NCCAA and NAIA Scholar-Athlete and has earned Dean’s List honors every semester. She regularly serves at her home church and attends weekly Bible studies. Head Coach Ryan Sommers stated, “Emma is humble and sweet, relating well with all her teammates. She desires the team to receive accolades and attention rather than herself. God has given her many gifts and she enjoys honoring Him with them.” Other Finalist Abigail Bentz, Concordia University Ann Arbor Award Description The Ray Bullock Cross Country Award, for women, was named in honor of Dr. Ray Bullock, who for many years has dedicated himself to the development of cross country as a sport in general, but also as a ministry within the NCCAA. He has impacted the lives of countless student-athletes and coaches through his efforts. This award was established in order to enhance excellence in Christian cross country competition and to perpetuate the Christian philosophy and faith as exemplified through Christ-like cross country participation in NCCAA member institutions.
