Kissimmee, FL – Three seed Great Lakes Christian College and #4 Trinity College of Jacksonville picked up a pair of shutouts on day two of Pool Play at the 2025 NCCAA DII Women’s Soccer National Championship, as GLCC defeated #6 Crown College 2-0, while TCJ knocked off #5 Grace Christian University 2-0 on Tuesday, November 18.
Pool A - #4 Trinity College of Jacksonville 2, #5 Grace Christian University 0
Four saves from Katianna Grace and a pair of goals from 30 yards out by Lucy Rife and Camila Lopez pushed #4 Trinity College of Jacksonville to the 2-0 victory over #5 Grace Christian University in Pool A play.
- Camila Lopez had the first clear shot for Trinity College of Jacksonville in the 11th minute, but a save from Kenna Hill kept the match scoreless.
- Lucy Rife scored the first goal of the game for the Eagles, as her shot from deep outside the box snuck over Hill’s head to put TCJ ahead 1-0 in the 24th minute.
- Natalie Johnson got the first shot on goal of the tournament for Grace Christian in the 32nd minute, but Katianna Grace deflected the ball into her gloves to keep TCJ on top 1-0 at the break.
- Early in the second half, Rife looked to rifle home her second goal of the game, but a save from Hill and a clearance by the Tigers defense kept it just a 1-0 deficit for GCU.
- In the 71st minute, Camila Lopez ripped a shot from 30 yards out, sending it past the Grace Christian defense and swelled the Trinity College of Jacksonville lead to 2-0.
- Kendall Johnson recorded a chance for GCU in the 74th minute, but Grace picked up her fifth save of the day, and the Eagles knocked off Grace Christian 2-0.
Pool B - #3 Great Lakes Christian College 2, #6 Crown College 0
Three seed Great Lakes Christian College held #6 Crown College to just one shot as the Crusaders shut out the Polars 2-0 in Pool B play.
- Meela York tallied a pair of shot attempts in the first 15 minutes of the match for Great Lakes Christian, but Rachel Fuller stopped both attempts to keep the score 0-0.
- The Crusaders continued to pepper the box with shots, outshooting Crown 14-0 in the opening frame, but only four shots were on target and neither resulted in goals, keeping the contest scoreless at the half.
- On her seventh shot of the game, York finally found the back of the net for GLCC, as her teammates Carolina Baccili and Abbie Numerick found the Crusader leader in the 67th minute to put Great Lakes Christian on top 1-0.
- Alexandria Avers added an extra goal for Great Lakes Christian in the 87th minute, as her teammate Lily Baalman found her in the box to make it a 2-0 lead for the Crusaders.
- The Crusader defense locked down the Crown offensive attack the rest of the way, as Great Lakes Christian held Crown to just one shot attempt, outshooting the Polars 27-1 and recorded nine shots on goal.
Pool Play at the 2025 NCCAA DII Women’s Soccer National Championship concludes tomorrow, November 19 at 1:00 PM. Trinity College of Jacksonville faces off against Bob Jones University in Pool A, while Great Lakes Christian College will play Southwestern Adventist University in Pool B.
