Kissimmee, FL – The two top seeds in the NCCAA DII Women’s Soccer National Championship advanced to the title match, as #1 Bob Jones University defeated #4 Trinity College of Jacksonville 1-0, while #2 Southwestern Adventist University knocked off #3 Great Lakes Christian College 3-0 on Wednesday, November 19.
Pool A - #1 Bob Jones University 1, #4 Trinity College of Jacksonville 0
The dream of three straight national championships continues for #1 Bob Jones University, as the Bruins knocked off south region rival #4 Trinity College of Jacksonville 1-0 to win Pool A.
- Bob Jones opened the match on the attack, with Elli Cummings and Lydia Howell recording a pair of shots in the first five minutes, but Katianna Grace picked up a save to keep the match scoreless. Cummings had another chance just two minutes later, but poked the ball over the cross bar and the match remained tied 0-0.
- The Bruins just missed another opportunity in the 18th minute, as Francesca Aurednik found her sister Amelia Peters in the box, but the shot went just wide and the match stayed scoreless.
- Abby Arrowood had found Elli Cummings in the 33rd minute on a breakaway chance, but Grace once again stepped up and made an incredible save and Ayla Buckley cleared it to keep the Eagles within striking distance.
- Buckley came up on the offensive end for TCJ, recording the first shot of the week by any team against Bob Jones in the 36th minute, but Savannah Clock stepped in front of the net to keep the match scoreless at the break.
- Bob Jones again came out firing in the second half, recording four shots in the first ten minutes, but could not find the back of the net.
- The Bruins finally broke through in the 67th minute, as Aurednik fired a cross inside that bounced off the TCJ defense, and Elli Cummings cleaned up the drop and poked the ball into the back of the net, putting Bob Jones on top 1-0.
- With five minutes remaining, Trinity Christian College of Jacksonville had a chance off a Camila Lopez free kick, but the Eagles could not score and BJU advanced to the national championship match with the 1-0 win.
Pool B - #2 Southwestern Adventist University 3, #3 Great Lakes Christian College 0
A trio of second half goals, including a pair by Amanda Quinones, pushed #2 Southwestern Adventist University to a 3-0 win over #3 Great Lakes Christian College and into the 2025 NCCAA DII Women’s Soccer National Championship match as winners of Pool B.
- The first chance for either side came in the 19th minute for Southwestern Adventist off a shot by Juliana Crespo, but Loralai Logan came up with a save for Great Lakes Christian to keep the contest tied 0-0.
- Deysi Rivera looked to put SWAU ahead in the 22nd minute, but her shot went just high and the two foes remained scoreless.
- GLCC had their own chance in the 36th minute to break open the scoring, but Caitlyn McKenzie’s shot was handled by Emely Vargas, and the match remained tied.
- Julie Baur had a chance to give Southwestern Adventist the lead in the final minutes of the opening stanza, but Logan again knocked the ball away to keep the game tied 0-0 at halftime.
- Less than three minutes into the second half, Rivera finally found the back of the net for SWAU, and the Knights took a 1-0 advantage.
- In the 56th minute, Southwestern Adventist earned a penalty kick chance and took advantage, as Amanda Quinones scored to push the Knights’ lead to 2-0.
- Quinones added another in the 71st minute, sneaking a shot past the keeper to swell the SWAU cushion to 3-0.
- A red card saw GLCC play the final twenty minutes with only 10 players, and the Southwestern Adventist defense kept the Crusaders without a shot to close the game, as the Knights advanced to the national championship match with the 3-0 victory.
The 2025 NCCAA DII Women’s Soccer National Championship match between Bob Jones and Southwestern Adventist will kickoff on Friday, November 21 at 2:00 PM eastern from the stadium at the Austin-Tindall Soccer Complex. Live stats, video, and box scores from every match can be found here.
